What’s New & Unique in Nova Scotia in 2009 - Attractions & Authentic Experiences

10/15/2009

In Nova Scotia, running out of fun things to do is not an option. Away from larger centres, Nova Scotia has hundreds of provincial parks, lakes, small coastal towns and historic sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The Joggins Fossil Cliffs along Nova Scotia's Bay of Fundy coastline has been designated a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. The cliffs are renowned for its extensive deposits of 300-million-year-old fossils. A new interpretive centre, The Joggins Fossil Centre, opened to the public in May 2008. This state-of-the-art facility houses interpretive exhibits for visitors and acts as a departure point for guided tours of the Fossil Cliffs.

The Eatonville day-use area of Cape Chignecto Provincial Park officially opened to the public in spring 2009. Located in Eatonville Harbour, the day-use park provides visitors with accessible walking trails suitable for everyone including families and the physically challenged.

Go tidal bore rafting! Join in an unforgettable, exhilarating, action-packed two or four hour tidal bore and up-river white water rafting experience in versatile Zodiacs as you ride the Tidal Bore and the Roller Coaster Rapids of the Shubenacadie River.
